This page scores rectangle top and bottom chart patterns with upward breakouts only. Patterns with scores above 0 show gains averaging 55%. Scores below 0 show gains of 22%. High scores do not guarantee good performance, nor does a low score mean you found a stinker.

Scoring Rectangle Tops and Bottoms

Please provide the following information:

Breakout direction: Only upward breakouts are scored. Upward What is the highest price in the chart pattern? What is the lowest price in the chart pattern? What is the highest price for the stock over the last 52 weeks? What is the lowest price for the stock over the last 52 weeks? How many shares of stock are outstanding? Trend start: How long is the price trend leading to the start of the chart pattern? 0-3 months 3-6 months Over 6 months Partial decline: Does the pattern show a partial decline? Yes No Breakout volume: Is breakout volume above the 30-day average? If no breakout yet, answer No. Yes No Throwbacks: Do you think a throwback will occur (usually answer Yes)?
